I was tasked with designing a captivating landing page for Scayla Apps' Shopify App Redirect Pro. Taking full ownership of the design process, I conducted thorough research to understand the target audience and industry trends. By creating responsive web designs for desktop, tablet, and mobile platforms in light and dark modes, I optimized the user experience. Through iterative thinking and collaboration with the team, I proactively solved issues and developed a unique design system for a cohesive and effective solution. The result was a visually captivating landing page that successfully showcased the app's features and drove conversions.

What is Antifragility?
	



Building upon an anti-fragile manifesto and extensive ethnographic research, our aim was to generate valuable ideas and narratives for Generation Z. Antifragility, coined by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, represents a mindset where individuals turn negative circumstances into opportunities for growth.

To grasp how Gen Z embraces antifragility, I examined skincare trends on popular social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, as well as overarching trends within the skincare industry.

Visual Research
	

Analyzing the behaviors of Generation Z, known for their 8-second attention span, involves examining the methods used to capture their attention, such as visual imagery and marketing mediums employed by brands. This analysis will provide valuable insights into their behaviors and, in turn, inform the Art Direction more effectively.



Gen Z distinguishes between real and fake media, prioritizing self-care and uplifting content over the "Instagram aesthetic." Brands align with these values, creating authentic campaigns that foster self-love and community participation. The "Clear &#38;amp; Clean" visual aesthetic, embraced by brands like Glossier, resonates with Gen Z's preference for transparency. Emerging brands like Squish promote self-acceptance through vibrant and whimsical products. Gen Z's rejection of perfection inspires brands to embrace authenticity and celebrate individuality.

Generation Z places significant value on aesthetics, considering it a crucial factor in their purchasing decisions regarding brands. Brands have recognized this and are leveraging aesthetics that align with Gen Z's values. Through our research, we have identified two distinct aesthetics:

"FUN &#38;amp; FRESH":
This aesthetic revolves around the belief that skincare is an inner journey. It emphasizes the importance of smiling, playfulness, self-love, and enjoying skincare rituals."CLEAN &#38;amp; CLEAR": This aesthetic addresses Gen Z's demand for brands to be transparent about their ethical values and ingredients. It draws inspiration from science and minimalism, aligning with the anti-fragile movement that Gen Z actively supports.

-&#38;gt; SECONDARYFurthermore, I conducted thorough research into Wales Bonner's collaborations, delving into her choice of models, photographers, and celebrity clients. I closely analyzed her meticulous styling approach and the thoughtfully selected locations for her fashion presentations. This research also involved an in-depth exploration of her previous fashion collections, where I paid meticulous attention to the textures, accessories, stitches, and structural elements that define her designs.To ensure a comprehensive understanding of Wales Bonner's work, I also conducted thorough research on key historical events, paintings, figures, and media that were referenced through her designs. This allowed me to grasp the depth and significance of her creative ethos.

/04 THE CRAFT


Re-imagining Malik Ambar





	








In my research, I explored Wales Bonner's cultural references and focused on the historical era and figures that inspired her work. Now, I will narrow my research to examine the relationship between Africa and South India, specifically looking for similarities between the two regions. Leading me to the story of Malik Ambar. Malik Ambar, an Ethiopian slave brought to South India, defied the chains of his past to become a prominent figure in history. Rising above societal limitations, he led a resistance against the Mughal empire and earned respect through his strategic victories. Malik Ambar's remarkable journey from slavery to becoming a Maharajah embodies resilience, strength, and the power to shape one's destiny.

/05 OUTCOME
The Image


	

In my experiments, I continued using the painting of the head along with a black-and-white composition, but this time I situated the character in an Indian setting to align with Wales Bonner's emphasis on history, culture, and hybridity. The model embodies Malik Ambar, the Ethiopian slave turned Maharajah, symbolizing the connection between West Africa and South India. Adorned with traditional Maharajah jewelry, the character's pose and expression challenge stereotypes of black masculinity, conveying vulnerability and tranquility. Placing him in a room overlooking a South Indian village landscape signifies his esteemed royal position in the region.

A VR concept for music hosting collective Cult Of Ya in collaboration with Korean artists DPR. Scared of going outside and missing IRL concerts, the VRspace is an invitation for fans to step into DPRs world for the night and interact with each other in a fun and non-judgmental atmosphere. Focusing on personalisation, the user can fine-tune their experience, helping eliminate notions of anxiety as they are put in control.
Area of focus: How colour and UX can be utilised to introduce a sense of comfort and nostalgia to combat the somewhat sterile and cold nature of technology.

‘We feel anxious in crowded spaces, but we are free to be vulnerable and have open conversations through the safety of digital communities.’

	

GEN Z turns to music for escape and as a coping mechanism, using it to address societal, personal, and political concerns. However, their anxiety about gathering in large crowds poses a risk to community-based event collectives like Cult of Ya. With the rise in physical Asian hate, GEN Z prefers staying home to avoid conflicts and opts for streaming artists on digital platforms instead.

How can we leverage technology to create a personal, intimate, and immersive experience for an audience that feels anxious and judged, yet yearns for a sense of community and belonging within an isolated environment?

05/ SOLUTION
Visual and musical escapism.


	

A proposed virtual concert venue on a digital planet in outer space. Each space is collaboratively designed with the artist, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in the artist's world for the night. This platform serves as an extension for the artists, allowing for a cohesive narrative across concerts while still encouraging artistic experimentation. The concept stemmed from the idea of escapism, addressing Gen Z's feelings of judgment and anxiety in society. By "traveling to another planet," attendees can experience both visual and musical escapism. The space promotes community by providing tools to easily connect with friends before and during the concert.

Hey there! I'm Megh, a Visual Designer and Creative Strategist driven by a genuine love for my craft. Graduating with First Honours in Creative Direction for Fashion from LCF (London College of Fashion) was an amazing experience that truly shaped me. I'm not only passionate about storytelling, community-building, and brand elevation, but also about embracing new technology and constantly pushing myself as a creative. I thrive on learning and I'm confident in my ability to quickly teach myself new skills and stay at the forefront of industry trends.
